Tidal turbine installation on UKCS

What we delivered

Drawing upon ROVOP’s considerable project management experience, our experts worked closely with a leading marine contractor to provide a tailored project solution.

ROVOP provided a free-flying Schilling HD 31 system to assist with the installation of a tidal turbine, with the ROV mobilising from Nigg in the Scottish Highlands.

The HD 31 was selected due to its broad range of capabilities with hydraulic tooling and ROV sensors, as well as its 60 minute repair philosophy and automated functions.

Facing a very short operating window and challenging North Sea currents, the team successfully completed the scope within the timeframe for the client. Work carried out on site included the placing of clump weights, hot stab insertion and removal and the unhooking of several loads.
