Mock ROV – Verification that an ROV could install newly modified Hot Stab Assemblies to Hose Connection Tool and Transfer Pump

What we delivered

In the project planning phase, a Mock ROV Site Integration Test can be hugely beneficial to simulate potential access challenges and prove integration of bespoke tooling interfaces, giving confidence to stakeholders before the equipment is deployed to the offshore environment.

When a leading subsea services contractor sought support to verify the installation of newly modified hot stab assemblies, ROVOP were on hand to provide a Mock ROV package to assist in verifying that an ROV could install the modified assemblies to their Hose Connection Tool and Transfer Pump.

ROVOP supplied a dedicated package for this project, utilising a fully equipped 20ft control cabin and mock ROV with 7 function manipulator. Partnering with a third-party engineering services company, with ROV personnel on site, ROVOP supported our customer in undertaking a variety of interface checks on the following subsea equipment:

  • 3” Male Test Plug
  • Hose Connection Tool
  • Transfer Pump
  • Transfer Hose and Hot Stab Assembly

Equipped with planned and approved procedures to guide each element, the integration trials were successfully completed in one day.  All tests were carried out safely whilst achieving the desired results. The Mock ROV demonstrated its worth as a robust and highly adaptable solution, which could be readily configured to suit the client’s exact requirements.
